Who files here
Who files at the Paris embassy
Permanent residents of France, Monaco or Algeria file with the embassy in Paris. It is the only place: the honorary consulates in Marseille, Lyon and Monaco no longer issue visas.
Honorary consulates that no longer issue visas
- Marseille
- Lyon
- Monaco
Covered by Paris
- France
- Monaco
- Algeria
You must be physically in France, Monaco or Algeria when the visa is issued.
Accepted proof of residence
- A national identity card
- A titre de séjour (residence permit)
- For EU nationals living in France or Monaco: a proof of address
The embassy may ask you to come in person. Not French? Always attach your titre de séjour. What counts as permanent residence
The checklist
The Paris embassy's DTV checklist
In the embassy's own order. Everything is uploaded as PDF on thaievisa.go.th; a document with several pages is merged into one file. The form is in English only.
Every applicant
- Passport
- Valid for at least 6 months on the day you leave.
- Photo
- In colour, taken less than 6 months ago.
- Proof of permanent residence
- Your most recent tax return. In the embassy's words: “Preuve de résidence permanente (déclaration d'impôt la plus récente)”.
- Bank statement
- A minimum balance of €15,000 per month over the last 3 months, on an account that is not blocked. A sponsor is accepted only for minors and accompanying DTV applicants.
- Criminal record
- “Casier judiciaire vierge datant moins de 3 mois”: a clean record, issued less than 3 months ago.
- Titre de séjour
- Non-French nationals always attach it.
Workation, employee
- Employment contract or certificate
- From your company in France, showing you are still employed, can work remotely, and are paid while in Thailand.
- Merged with
- The company's registry extract and your latest payslip. A professional portfolio is the alternative.
Workation, auto-entrepreneur
- A letter in French and English
- Describing your remote work and where your income comes from, with your website or profile URL.
- Merged with
- Your “Avis de situation au répertoire Sirene”, an invoice under 3 months old, and proof that it was paid.
Thai soft power
- From your Thai host
- An invitation or acceptance letter, the signatory's ID, the host's licence and proof of payment.
- Medical treatment
- The hospital's appointment letter and proof of payment.
Spouse or child
- Family link
- Marriage or birth certificate, or the livret de famille.
- The main holder
- Their passport page and their DTV. A child at an international school applies for a Non-Immigrant ED visa, not a DTV.
Criminal record certificate
Your criminal record certificate: the French B3
France's bulletin n°3 is free, available whatever your nationality, and only you can request it.
Which certificate
Paris does not say which country's certificate it wants. Under the ministry's rule it is one certificate, from your country of nationality or from the country where you hold permanent residence and file. How the certificate works
No translation, no legalisation
The Paris DTV page asks for neither.
No apostille
Thailand joined the Apostille Convention on 30 June 2026, and it applies to Thailand only from 28 February 2027. Until then an apostille is not valid for Thailand, and no post asks for one on the DTV upload.
Step by step
Order it online
On casier-judiciaire.justice.gouv.fr. Only the person concerned can ask for their own B3.
Pick the fastest channel
With FranceConnect it arrives within 1 to 24 hours. Born abroad and no FranceConnect: by email in about 2 working days, with your ID attached. By post it takes about 2 weeks.
Or by post
Form cerfa 10071, sent to Service du casier judiciaire national, 107 rue du Landreau, 44300 Nantes.
Order it last
A B3 has no legal validity period; the body receiving it sets one. Paris wants it under 3 months old, so request it once the rest of the file is ready.

What the Paris embassy does not say
Two questions the embassy's pages leave open. We do not guess: ask the visa section before you file.
A temporary titre de séjour
Non-French nationals always attach their titre de séjour. Whether a temporary one counts as permanent residence is not stated.
Which country's certificate
Paris does not name the issuing country. The ministry's rule allows your nationality or your country of permanent residence.

Questions
DTV from France: common questions
Do I need a criminal record from my home country if I live in France?
No official source asks for two. Since 31 August 2026 the rule is one certificate, from your country of nationality or from the country of permanent residence where you file. Paris does not say which it prefers. The French B3 is free and available whatever your nationality. Read the field note on the certificate.
Can I file at the Thai consulate in Lyon or Marseille?
No. The honorary consulates in Marseille, Lyon and Monaco no longer issue visas. Every DTV from France, Monaco or Algeria is filed online with the embassy in Paris.
How much money do I need in the bank for a DTV from France?
Paris asks for a bank statement with a minimum balance of €15,000 per month over the last 3 months, on an account that is not blocked. A sponsor is accepted only for minors and accompanying DTV applicants.
How long does the Paris embassy take?
About 4 weeks. The embassy advises applying 2 to 3 months before departure. The €350 fee is never refunded.
I am not French. What proves my residence in France?
A titre de séjour, which non-French nationals always attach. EU nationals living in France or Monaco can show a proof of address. Whether a temporary titre de séjour counts is not stated: ask visa.par@mfa.go.th.
I am an auto-entrepreneur. Which documents prove my work?
A letter in French and English describing your remote work, your income source and your website or profile, merged with your Avis de situation au répertoire Sirene, an invoice under 3 months old and proof it was paid.
