Processing time

DTV visa processing time, post by post

There is no central figure. Each Thai embassy or consulate publishes its own, several publish none, and the clock starts only on a complete, paid application. Here is what each post says, with the date of its page.

Short answer

How long the DTV takes to process

The posts that publish a figure range from 5 working days to a month or more. The German posts and London state about 15 working days; Paris about 4 weeks.

Central figure
None
Neither the MFA nor the portal publishes a DTV processing time. Each post states its own.
Germany, UK
15 working days
Plus 15 if the post asks for more documents.
Paris
About 4 weeks
Apply 2 to 3 months before departure.
Earliest
3 months
The portal takes no application more than 3 months before your arrival date.

The clock starts on a complete, paid file

Washington: the process “starts when you upload all of the required documents into the system with complete payment”. Time spent gathering papers does not count.

The certificate usually sets the timeline

The criminal record certificate comes from your own authorities and takes from a few hours to several weeks, depending on the country. Order it first. The certificate, country by country.

Some posts want you in the country until the decision

Berlin asks you to stay in Germany until the decision; Dubai and Kuala Lumpur reject applications submitted from outside their country. Read your post's page before planning a trip.

What adds time

Four things that make it longer

None of them is unusual. Each can be avoided, or at least started early.

A document request

If a document is missing or unclear, the status turns to “Request Document”. Berlin adds 15 working days when it asks; London 15.

An incomplete first upload

At Ho Chi Minh City, the count restarts when you send the missing documents. Upload everything the first time.

The certificate

Issued by your own authorities, in a few hours or several weeks. No post, and no agent, can make it come faster.

A draft left too long

The portal deletes incomplete, unpaid and ready-to-submit applications after 14 days. You then start from the beginning.

No post whose page we have read offers an express DTV. Dubai says so in words; Ho Chi Minh City makes an exception only for medical or family emergencies.

When to apply

Work back from your travel date

Each post sets its own window, inside the portal's limit. Apply as early as that window allows, once every document is in hand.

The portal, every post
No more than 3 months before arrival.
Paris
2 to 3 months before departure.
Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich
Up to 90 days before arrival.
London
6 to 8 weeks ahead, and no earlier than 90 days before arrival.
Dubai
20 to 30 days before departure.
Singapore
At least 21 working days before you travel.
Washington
“Around one month before your intended travel date”.

Book nothing you cannot cancel until the status on your account reads “Approved”.

Questions

DTV visa processing time: common questions

How long does the DTV visa take to process?

It depends on the post that covers you. Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich decide within 15 working days, London states about 15, Paris about 4 weeks, New Delhi and Kolkata about 14 working days, Ho Chi Minh City 5. Kuala Lumpur says a month or longer. Several posts state no figure at all.

Is there an express DTV service?

Not at any post whose page we have read. Dubai states there is no express service; Ho Chi Minh City allows an exception only for medical or family emergencies.

When does the processing time start?

When the application is complete and paid. Washington: the process “starts when you upload all of the required documents into the system with complete payment”. If the post asks for a document, the wait for it comes on top.

Does an agent make the decision come faster?

No. The post decides on its own schedule. Our express turnaround on The Review and The File shortens our part, the audit or the dossier, never the post's. If the certificate is what you are waiting on, it will not help you, and we will say so.

How do I know where my application stands?

On your thaievisa.go.th account. The status moves from “Processing” to “Approved” or “Rejected”, through “Request Document” or “Request Interview” if the post needs more. The application, step by step.

Can I travel while my DTV is being processed?

Check your post first. Berlin asks you to stay in Germany until the decision. Dubai and Kuala Lumpur reject applications submitted from outside their country. Since 31 August 2026 you file from your country of nationality or permanent residence anyway: where to apply from.
